As we head into summer, it’s time for me to introduce you to this year’s 12PointFive intern! I am able to hire an intern every year through the FutureLink program.
FutureLink places first generation college students into Montgomery County businesses to gain work experience and tangible skills for their future careers. This is my third year participating in the program and I am thrilled to introduce you to Jahayra Granados, my 2024 summer intern.  Here she is in her own words to tell you a little more about herself:
My name is Jahayra Granados. My ancestors come from El Salvador, and I am a first-generation college student at Montgomery College.
I’m a full-time student at Montgomery College, expecting to graduate with an associate’s degree in Business A.A. in the fall of 2025. After graduation, I would like to further my education at a 4-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or other related fields.
I’ve worked as a receptionist in a dentist’s office for several years, where I was the first point of contact for customers and patients. I am a hard worker and a problem solver who takes pride in completing a well-done job.
As a receptionist, I was required to make decisions and take action to help patients. My skills will continue to grow, along with the other skills I have accumulated from past volunteering experiences. I look forward to gaining general experience and knowledge by working with 12pointfive. I want to learn the steps to understanding the foundations of different businesses and improve my marketing and  communications skills.
